Cache County Criminal History Checks
No single Cache County screen is a complete criminal history. Start with a full legal name, spelling variants, an approximate birth date, and any known case or citation number. The Utah Courts Xchange index is the broadest public starting point for filed district and justice cases. A jail entry answers a different question about present or recent custody, while a police report explains the alleged event. The subject's own BCI record is fingerprint linked and is not open for public name searches.
Use this order to reduce false matches and missed records:
- Search Xchange across both District and Justice Court, select Cache County or a specific Cache County court, and use a birth date when available.
- For very recent custody, try the Cache County jail page and 30-day booking link. If the interface remains unavailable, call 435-755-1227.
- Request the incident or arrest report from the agency named in the case, citation, or booking record.
- Review your own Utah repository record through BCI Right of Access with fingerprints, identification, and the required fee.
- Check UDC Offender Search for later prison or supervision status and the Utah registry only for statutory registration status.
Compare the charge, agency, date, court location, and disposition before deciding two entries concern the same event. A name match by itself is weak evidence.
Four Cache County Record Answers
Cache County criminal records are divided by purpose. The sheriff or city police keeps the incident narrative. The Cache County Jail creates the intake and custody record. Utah Courts creates the CORIS case after a prosecutor files a charge. BCI receives fingerprint-linked arrest and disposition data for the state repository. These products can disagree in timing without any office being wrong, because arrest charges may change before filing and a disposition may arrive later.

Official Background Checks in Utah
The Utah Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Identification does not offer the public an unrestricted online name search for rap sheets. A person may request their own Utah criminal history through Right of Access. The application requires a completed fingerprint card and acceptable photo identification. The fee is $20. BCI accepts mailed submissions and serves applicants at its Taylorsville counter from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.

This state record is Utah focused. It is not the same as an Xchange case index, a Cache County police report, or an FBI Identity History Summary. A Record Challenge Request, also $20, is the BCI route for disputing the subject's own repository entry.
Cache County Fingerprint Record Route
Cache County fingerprint access has a practical wrinkle. The Cache County Jail reported that its fingerprint machine was out of order and that it was not accepting appointments when the research was completed. The official jail instructions instead direct applicants to Utah State University Police at 1250 North 850 East in Logan. Call 435-797-1939 and book through the USU public-safety site. Confirm the capture fee when making the appointment because the public source did not state it.
A fingerprint appointment does not order the criminal history. It produces the card used with the BCI application. Check that the prints are clear, complete the BCI form, attach the required identification, and send the $20 payment through the method BCI accepts. BCI also takes fingerprints at its Taylorsville office. Kinds of Criminal Records
Each Cache County criminal record begins at a distinct stage. An incident report records allegations and investigative work. Booking records document intake, bond, holds, and release. A prosecutor's information or a lower-court complaint states what was filed, which can differ from the arrest label. The court docket then records hearings, orders, judgment, and sentence. BCI organizes fingerprint-linked arrest cycles and reported dispositions around the person rather than around one case file.
- Arrest and incident report: held by Cache County Sheriff, Logan Police, Smithfield Police, North Park Police, USU Police, or another arresting agency.
- Booking record: created by the Cache County Jail and not proof of conviction.
- Court case: kept by Utah Courts and searchable in public form through Xchange.
- Warrant: issued by a court and verified with that court or the responsible law-enforcement agency.
- Corrections or registry record: maintained by UDC for custody, supervision, or registration status.
Police, jail, court, and state data should be compared, not substituted for one another.
Cache County Jail Record Gaps
The official Cache County Jail page links a current inmate list and a 30-day bookings view, but both interfaces were unavailable during research. Do not treat a blank or failed page as proof that no one is held. Call the jail information line at 435-755-1227. The Cache County jail distinguishes its roster entries from Utah state or federal prisoners housed under contract. It also stopped distributing booking photographs after Utah's 2021 law change. The remaining record may show jail name or identifier, booking time, arresting agency, initial charges, bond or hold, housing, and release or transfer status. Cache County Criminal Records: What They Contain
A Cache County criminal record should be read as a set of linked identifiers and events. Xchange case numbers begin with a two-digit filing year, but they are not unique statewide. The court location and case type matter. A rap sheet may also include Utah or FBI identifiers and fingerprint transaction numbers. Public copies omit Social Security numbers and protected victim, minor, or sealed information.

A filed charge may not match the arrest charge. Read the final disposition row and its date before drawing a conclusion.
Cache County Xchange Search Fields
Utah Courts Xchange provides public CORIS summaries for Cache County District and Justice Court matters. Logan District Court coverage is complete for cases filed since August 18, 1997, though converted older files may appear with less detail. Guest or one-time use starts with $10 credit. Each search costs $0.35, and an available electronic document costs $1. A free public terminal is available at most district courthouses, subject to Cache County availability.

Utah Public Access Laws
Cache County sheriff and police records are handled under the Utah Government Records Access and Management Act, known as GRAMA. Court files follow Utah judicial record rules instead. Public status does not remove lawful redactions, and an active report may remain unavailable until it is cleared.

Ask for a written classification and appeal instructions if an office withholds all or part of a Cache County record.
Cache County Sheriff Record Requests
The Cache County Sheriff's Administrative Division Records Department keeps sheriff reports, crash files, jail records, and other sheriff-created material. Submit the official form at the counter from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., email recordsrequest@cachesheriff.gov, or mail it with the required identity documents. The current web address uses the .gov email; an older PDF prints a .org address. Active reports are not released until cleared, and processing may take up to ten working days.
Incident and traffic-accident reports cost $10 each. Jail records cost $10 per 25 pages, prorated. Cash, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are accepted, but personal checks are not. The published card surcharge ranges overlap, so confirm the right tier before paying. Completed records left unclaimed for 60 days are destroyed, and payment is not refunded.

Restricted, Sealed & Expunged Records
Cache County criminal records may be withheld when they contain active investigative material, protected victim or witness information, juvenile delinquency data, private identifiers, or sealed and expunged cases. Xchange excludes juvenile delinquency and expunged cases. An absence from public results may therefore reflect a legal restriction, a reporting delay, incomplete older conversion, or a spelling and identity mismatch.
Utah defines expungement as sealing or otherwise restricting access to an arrest, investigation, detention, or conviction record. A petition route begins with the full history and, when required, a BCI Certificate of Eligibility. The petition is filed in the court that handled the Cache County matter. After a judge signs the order, the person must follow distribution instructions to BCI and each named Cache County agency. Keep certified copies.
BCI offers a $15 Expungement Verification Application for checking automatic and petition-based results. Clean Slate uses court and BCI data exchange rather than a certificate. Eligibility, waiting periods, and access exceptions turn on the exact offense and history, so current BCI and Utah Courts instructions control.
Cache County Corrections Records
Once a Cache County sentence reaches state custody or adult supervision, the Utah Department of Corrections becomes the key record holder. UDC Offender Search accepts a name or UDC number and may show a public legal status such as inmate, parolee, or probationer. It can include housing, crime and sentence details, Board hearing information, release or termination dates, the committing court, and a case number. Individual conditions, agent assignments, and treatment details may remain private.
The UDC website is the official entry point for that search.
Use Xchange to confirm the sentence and court docket. Probation and parole are both supervised by UDC Adult Probation and Parole, but probation is imposed by a court while parole release is decided by the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole. A county jail entry and a UDC status are not interchangeable.
Cache County Warrants and Scams
Utah provides a statewide warrant search, but any result should be verified with the issuing court or law-enforcement agency. Xchange proceedings may show a public warrant event. First District Court can answer questions about its own Cache County case at 435-750-1300, while Logan Justice Court uses 435-716-9540. A bench warrant commonly follows failure to appear or comply; an arrest warrant is based on probable cause; some search warrants remain sealed before execution.
The Cache County Sheriff's Office warns that it does not demand warrant payment by telephone and does not request gift cards. Do not pay a caller based on caller ID. Confirm the warrant number, court, charge, bond, and authorized resolution with the court and sheriff. Ask for written proof after a recall, allow databases time to update, and recheck the official source. Someone who believes a warrant is active should obtain lawful surrender or appearance instructions from the issuing court or counsel before going to an office.
City-by-City Criminal Records in Cache County
City-level Cache County records depend on the police agency and current court route. Logan Police and USU Police create separate report trails. Smithfield requires a dedicated police GRAMA form and its former justice court closed in 2021. North Logan is served by the regional North Park Police Department, while old North Logan and Hyde Park court information may point to a dissolved venue. Cache County Crime Data Limits
Official Cache County crime figures are available through the BCI Crime in Utah dashboards and the state's Cache County Sheriff police-crime dataset. Any number needs the reporting agency, year, offense definition, filter, and extraction date. Utah shifted from older summary reporting to NIBRS collection in 2021, so a line that crosses that break may reflect a method change as well as a real change in reported events.

Logan Police totals should not absorb USU Police or Cache Sheriff reports. North Park Police is regional, so its agency totals may not equal North Logan city-only events. Smithfield Police should be filtered on its own. These boundaries make official data useful context, not a substitute for an individual Cache County criminal record.
